Same-day passports are available in Miami, Florida. But you can’t get same-day processing if you submit your passport application at the post office.
If you have upcoming travel plans and need a passport ASAP, you may be able to schedule an appointment with the Miami Passport Agency, or you may want to consider utilizing a private expediting company.
What is a Regional Passport Agency?
Regional Passport agencies are operated by the U.S. Department of State and provide in-person services to U.S. citizens who have urgent international travel within 14 calendar days or need to secure a foreign visa within 28 calendar days.
These agencies differ from Passport Acceptance Facilities and only allow for in-person passport applications by appointment only. These appointments can be difficult to obtain, as there are only 26 Regional Passport Agencies across the country.
Currently, Regional Passport Agencies only accept two types of appointments: Life-or-Death Emergency Service and Urgent Travel Service.

The Miami Passport Agency is in the Government District of south-central downtown Miami, Florida, inside the Omni Center.

The Regional Passport Agency in Miami, Florida is open 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday by appointment only. To receive passport services from this agency, you’ll need to schedule an in-person appointment.
Who Can Use the Same-Day Passport Office in Miami, Florida?
The Miami Passport Agency services travelers with urgent travel needs. To use this office, you need to provide proof of urgent international travel within 14 calendar days or need a foreign visa within 28 calendar days.
You may qualify for a life-or-death emergency appointment if you need to travel internationally in 3 business days because your immediate family member outside of the United States has died, is dying, or has a life-threatening injury or illness.
How Do I Schedule an Appointment at the Same-Day Passport Office in Miami, Florida?
To make an appointment, call 1-877-487-2778. There is no fee to make an appointment, however, availability is limited, and there can be strict eligibility requirements.
Currently there are only two types of appointments that can be made with a Regional Passport Agency. Life-or-Death Emergency Service and Urgent Travel Service.
If you’re unable to schedule an appointment at the Miami Passport Agency, you may still be able to obtain a passport quickly by utilizing a private expediting company. Private expediting companies have the ability to expedite U.S. Passports, with services times as fast as one week.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
First you’ll need to determine what passport application you need and gather your required documents along with proof of identification and citizenship.

You’ll also need a passport photo, which you can have taken prior to your appointment at a local FedEx Office location, using an app like Passport Photo Creator & RushMyPhoto, or you may simply have it taken on-site when you arrive.
For fee payment, the Miami Passport Agency accepts credit/debit cards, cash (exact change only), checks, and bank drafts or money orders.
To enter the passport agency building, you must pass through a security screening and bring a government-issued ID. Leave guns and other weapons, food, and drinks in your car. You may bring a bottle of water.
Arrive early to get through security. But don’t arrive too early. You may not enter the Passport Agency office itself earlier than 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
What If You Can’t Get An Appointment with a Regional Passport Agency?
Regional passport agencies exist to help out travelers who need emergency passport services, but for a lot of people, they are not the easiest solution.
If you’re unable to schedule an appointment at the Miami Passport Agency and need a passport in a hurry, you may want to consider expediting your passport with a private expediting company.
Using a Passport Expediting Company
A registered passport expediting company will take your application to the Department of State, where it can be processed in as little as 7 business days.
The company will then ship your new passport back to you, usually overnight. Not only does using an expediting company reduce the time needed to receive a United States passport, it also lessens the chance of errors that could delay your application.
If there’s a setback at the passport office, the expediting company can inform you immediately so that corrections can be made, and your passport can be on its way to processing and back to you in time for your trip!

I live in Chicago, but the Consulate General of Haiti here is horrendous. Their website is so misleading, it’s egregious. I followed the website instructions to get my passport renewed and brought everything to the Consulate, specifying that I had paid for extremely urgent rush services and I even had the receipt for it. They took my documents and my money orders without mentioning any issues. On Thursday, I called to find out where they were in the process (I am supposed to travel to Haiti on July 30 due to a family emergency), and the gentleman on the phone tells me that they don’t offer any rush services at all and then implies that it’s my fault if I have this problem because I should have called first. NOWHERE ON THE WEBSITE DOES IT SAY TO CALL BEFORE SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION, NOR DOES IT EVEN MENTION GETTING AN APPOINTMENT BEFORE STARTING THE PROCESS.
Do you know what I can do, please? Is there anything I can do? I wrote to the Haitian Embassy in Washington, DC, but I haven’t received any reply, and I’m worried they won’t do anything. What can I do? Please help, I would appreciate any advice.

I am trying to get a passport by end of day on Wednesday 12/8/21 to fly 12/9/21. I am located in Gainesville, FL but available to drive to Miami to complete this.
For that quick of a turnaround, you would have needed to contact the Passport Agency personally to see if you qualified for an emergency in person site visit at one of the 26 passport agencies. The number is 877-487-2778!

We can get you a passport for tuesday. Jan 13th. The only option is to go with your paperwork to the Miami passport office (or closest one to you) and hopefully they can issue you one today.

My daughter goes every to Canada to celebrate Chritmas since she was 4 years old. She is now 19 and going to college at UF. She had bought her ticket to leave on the 19th. I am in the process of moving and I cannot find her passport. I have the old passport, birth certificate, copy of the current passport, can she obtain a letter from the passport agency and travel to and from Canada with it?

If she is driving, no she cannot. The airline simply won’t let her on a plane without a valid passport. However, with the documents you have, you should be able to get a new passport issued.
