How to Make an Appointment at the Passport Agency
The first thing you should do is call the Automated Appointment System at 1-877-487-2778 and make an appointment. This automated phone appointment system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no fee to schedule an appointment. However, passport agency hours vary from location to location. Make sure you coordinate your appointment with the proper agency. Be sure to check if the location is the closest Regional Passport Agency to you.
- Make sure you have all of the required documents upon arrival at the agency.
- Proof of travel is also required at most agencies so bring your itinerary with you. Electronic itineraries on your smartphone are not valid.
- There is an Expedited Fee of $60 required for each application submitted in person at a Passport Agency. The expedited fee is in addition to the regular passport fee.
In most cases, you will receive your passport within a few days or prior to your trip. You may be able to get it that day if your travel plans are more immediate. Passport agencies are only open Monday – Friday and are closed on all national holidays so plan accordingly. You will also want to factor in drive times and spending the day at the agency.

Most generally on felony records, they’re going to want a letter to verify that you have fulfilled your obligation to Probation and Parole, or Completed the Sentence for the Charge or Charges. Only if it’s been less than 10 or 15 years after the Completion of the Sentence if memory serves me right.
