Is it possible to get a passport in one day? Same day passport processing is definitely available, but the amount of time it will take for you to actually get your passport depends on several different factors.

There are actually two options available for people who need same day passport processing. The first option is to make an appointment at a Regional Passport Agency office. There are several downsides to this option. First, you have to make an appointment. Second, the offices are only open for a limited amount of time each day. You will probably have to take time off work. Third, there are only 21 Regional Passport Agency offices to serve the entire country. Unless you leave in or near a major city, you may have to drive hours or even take a plane to get to the nearest office. So, to calculate how long it will take to get your passport, you’ll need to find out when the next available appointment is, and consider how long it will take you to get to the office.

A better option for same-day passport processing is to use a private passport expediting company like RushMyPassport.com. With an expediting company, you don’t have to take time off work, drive for hours, or make an appointment. All you have to do is send in your application and supporting documents to the expediting company. The expediting company will personally take your application to the US Passport Agency for same-day processing, and then mail your passport back to you. If you live in a city where the expediting company has an office, you may be able to get your passport immediately. If not, you’ll need to allow time to mail in your application materials and for the expediting company to mail the passport back. Naturally, overnight shipping is the fastest shipping method.
